Women’s embodiment and health: lived experiences
Participating at the workshop are the eight key members of WoMaHN (see Key Members) and 11 paying participants who also will present papers. The call for paying participants will be distributed broadly to allow for a broad international group.
The first workshop engages with lived experiences of marginalized health. Women’s experiences of their health remain significant for developing a more gender sensitive medicine and for gender equality in general (Epstein, 2007; Sharma, 2019). Such personal experiences are enmeshed with socio-cultural meanings while at the same time, they are often taboo and surrounded by silence. The purpose of the first workshop is to explore and discuss those socio-cultural constitutions of women’s experiences of their health.
The key member meeting will specifically discuss ideas for research collaborations and task distribution within the network.
